Greetings and welcome to WHITETREE, your ultimate source for personalized travel experiences in Otaru, Hokkaido. As the owner and main private tour guide, I am excited to introduce myself and share my unique story with you.

My name is Macy, and I have spent most of my life at Teine in the beautiful city of Sapporo, where I was born and raised. My passion for skiing started at an early age, and by the time I was in sixth grade, I had already earned a SIA Gold certificate. Throughout my childhood and teenage years, I honed my skills as a mogul skier and became a Hokkaido strengthening designated player.

However, an unfortunate lower back injury put an end to my skiing career.

Determined to keep exploring and learning, I embarked on a backpacking trip for Asian countries from Korea to Turkey and eventually ended up in Egypt, where I acquired a PADI Divemaster qualification and worked as a diving guide.

Later, I moved to Cairo and worked as a land operator in the Japanese section of EGYTRAV, an Egyptian corporate travel agency.

After returning to Japan, I worked in various jobs before joining Winkel Co., Ltd., a company that operates rental villas, campgrounds, and ski schools in Asarigawaonsen Otaru Hokkaido.

During my time there, I became interested in tourism of Otaru and its rich history, particularly the canal preservation movement and the Port Festival in 1970’s. I even obtained the Otaru Guide Meister certification, a local official certification for Otaru.

In 2014, I moved to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia, to become a new business manager for Nihon Facility SDN BHD.

This company is the Malaysian subsidiary that provides facility management services in Sapporo Hokkaido. As a representative of the Japanese tenant area “Wa-venue” at the newly opened complex facility “Oceanus Waterfront Mall Kota Kinabalu,” I negotiated and interpreted with the management team of the shopping mall, managed two stores (Tomica Plarail and SHIKI), and oversaw the local staff.

In 2018, I returned to Japan and founded WHITETREE, with a vision to provide customized and authentic travel experiences to foreign tourists visiting Hokkaido. Before the pandemic, I had the pleasure of entertaining many clients as a private guide and activity guide, including ski instruction and snowshoe tours.

My extensive experience and love for travel, combined with my passion for sharing my knowledge of Otaru and Hokkaido with others, make me the perfect guide for your next adventure. Whether you’re interested in exploring the historic canal district, enjoying the local cuisine, or experiencing the thrill of skiing on Hokkaido’s famous powder snow, I am here to make your trip unforgettable.

So, if you’re an tourist who loves to explore and experience new things, please don’t hesitate to contact WHITETREE for your next adventure in Hokkaido. I look forward to welcoming you to this beautiful region of Japan!
